Studio Dearborn Wins 2020 Best Kitchen of the Year from National Kitchen & Bath Association

A traditional kitchen with custom chevron cabinetry by our own Sarah Robertson, lead interior designer at Studio Dearborn, won the best kitchen of the year honor in the National Kitchen & Bath Association’s 2020 Professional Design Competition.

This is the second year in a row that Robertson’s work has won the best overall kitchen design prize from the premier association for the $147 billion kitchens and bath industry. She won in 2019 for a renovation of the modern farmhouse kitchen in her own Westchester County, New York home.

“I was stunned and thrilled to win the NKBA’s best overall kitchen design award for the second year in a row,” Robertson said. “I work very hard to consider every detail, from light and flow to storage and millwork as I design kitchens. It’s so exciting to see the kitchen design community recognize those efforts.“

The Awards

The award was announced on Jan. 20, 2020, at the annual Kitchen & Bath Industry Show (KBIS) in Las Vegas. The awards gala sponsored by Miele, 2020, Home Depot, and Control 4, was emceed by celebrity interior designer Kelli Ellis, star of HGTV, and the show Design Therapy on the Design Network.

Her Larchmont remodel won two awards: Best Kitchen of the Year and 1st place in the Large Traditional Kitchen category. It features a mix of contrasting design elements, with traditional with modern touches, it includes black windows and accents with brass fixtures, and a mix of painted and character oak.

“I loved how the kitchen felt so bright and airy, but still cozy and inviting due to the warm tones.’’

Robertson also won a second-place prize in the Small Traditional Kitchen category for a cheerful kitchen that features Moroccan-inspired blue and white Riad tile, brushed brass fixtures, and custom cabinetry in white and Benjamin Moore’s Van Deusen Blue.
